Description

The appearance of Ikarus 620 was a result of a long development. Desinged by the reknown László Finta, designer of many popular Ikarus buses, it has very advanced features. In that time the headlight fitting, the windscreen design, wheel arches, turn and position signs were almost futuristic. The first series had them different: the turn signs were drop shaped and followed the bodywork in a streamlined fashion; the outer headlights were clear and the inner ones were amber coloured, the route sign on the top was a small square shaped one for the line number only, and the wheel arches were more angular with a straight part on the top. Later the front suspension and gear were changed (due to a CORECOM regulation) and to provide the driveability the wheel arches had to be rounded. The route signs were widened to include final destinations. In this one it is tilted in a "streamlined" fashion but it has worse visibility, therefore later models had vertical surface. The round turn signs were installed later due to cost reducing efforts (same happened on the back end) and headlights were changed to all clear for safety reasons. The licence plate was normally installed over the left turn sign, and there was a small panel that provided more ventillation to the driver when opened. The original buses had their windscreen wipers on the bottom edge ... but wait, it was only one windscreen wiper, only on the left half. On the right there was nothing—not even safety. :D
Note the lack of licence plate here. This bus is still under restoration and it will reveice special licence plate if the Old Timer qualification is completed.

Looks interesting. At first glance, I honestly thought it was a 1990's Freightliner Cabover truck converted into a motorhome lol. But again, it looks nice! :D
